UltraComp Vms

A cost-effective Unified Mail System for small-medium operators

Current VMS structure

UltraComp Vms is a simple and cost effective Voice Mail System, not a complicated proprietary VMS with features seldom used:

  • few prompts: recording of new languages and very fast customization,
  • completely open standards including a general-purpose mail system (like the one you use for email): you can also offer your subscribers email
UltraComp VMS deposit and owner access ergonomics
  • Simple and intuitive for any user
  • No need to re-enter the voice mail number for a deposit or an access
Automatic access to the mail box (deposit or owner)

A call reaching the UltraComp VMS is the owner access if the B party address is:

  • one of the predefined addresses for the service (either a short number or a normal one) and the A party one of the subscribers
  • otherwise it is a “deposit” for the B party address voicemail box owner.

In the case of owner access:

  • announcement of the number of new and archived voicemail messages.
  • New messages are played in the order received, preceded by a greeting containing the timestamps of the arrival. The caller is able to replay or delete the voicemail. When no action is taken, the message is archived.
  • Then the archived messages. The archiving time of the voice messages is a unique configuration parameter.
  • Voicemail access is ended either by the caller hanging up or by a timeout after the last message has been played.

In the case of a deposit, the caller is prompted to record.

Then the caller has the possibility of replaying the message for verification and recording it again or deleting it if necessary. The line is then hung up and the message is saved in a standard SMTP format on the UltraComp VMS server. At the same time, a SMS notification is sent to the SMSC.

UltraComp VMS architecture

The UltraComp VMS foundations use standard protocols and open software for the storage, retrieval of the voicemail messages and for the SMS notifications.

The UltraComp VMS sends the voicemail to an email user account associated with its MSISDN using the SMTP protocol.
The retrieving of the voicemail messages is done via IMAP to play either the services messages or the voicemail messages over the phone or over Internet via a WEBMail server.

UltraComp VMS features

UltraComp VMS features: what makes a Unified Mail System: use your PC to access your voice mails!
  • As a consequence of the standard email foundations, the user may access its voice mailbox through the standard Webmail interface.
  • Play the voice mails with the standard Microsoft Media Player
  • An other advantage of using a system based on open source software and on standard voice formats is the ability to use open source voice prompt editors (Windows or Linux) with great flexibility in the recording of the voice greetings and prompts.
